Poly-Cast, Inc., a leading Northwest manufacturer of injection molded plastic parts, is pleased to announce the addition of Mr. Derek Birkes to the company as the Process/Manufacturing Engineer.

In his position as Process/Manufacturing Engineer, Derek will be responsible for improving the injection molding process, help in the effort to reduce manufacturing costs, and contribute to the NPI team. Using scientific molding methodology, Derek will create precise, repeatable processes which will ensure consistency and deliver the highest quality parts. This focused objective will give Poly-Cast’s clients the assurance that discipline is applied to each stage of the molding process.

Derek is a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering program at Portland State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He participated in the 2012 Boeing AIW program in Portland, OR and co-authored with Dr. Trevor Snyder the white paper, 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing: 3D Systems Technology overview and New Applications in Manufacturing, Engineering, Science, and Education. His wide knowledge base, personal experience, and his systematic approach to problem solving will be a great addition to the Poly-Cast team.
